Letters to Artists

As part of our Term 3 topic of communicating through art, we are reading about artists in reading time. Some students wrote letters to an artist in response to their reading.

Dear Edgas Degas,
I am Naomi. I love your beautiful art. My favourite is the ballerina made out of wax. I have a few questions I want to ask you. Why is your artwork focused on ballet dancers? Are you friends with Claude Monet? What inspired you?
Love from Naomi
P.S Please write back
P.S.S You should start drawing hip - hop dancers.

Dear Georges Seurat

Hi my name is a Alex. My favourite painting of yours is the la grand jatte. I like it because of its big space and details. I have got a few questions for you one of them is who inspired you to be a painter? And what gave you the  idea to create the la grand jatte?

You’re sincerely Alexandra

Ugly Food articles

We watched this video about ugly fruit and veg being sold in France and wrote newspaper articles about it. We think that we should do this in New Zealand Supermarkets!

Funny fruits

In France at their supermarket, Intermache. This year they have been selling funny shaped fruits and Veggies, they have been doing this to save the fruits from getting thrown away. The farmers were throwing away a 3rd of the fruits and vegies .

Most people in France are buying the funny shaped fruits and vegies because they are cheaper .They also taste the same they put them on cheaper prices because they look funny .If they were the same amount as the right shaped fruit they might not buy it.

So when you go to the supermarket here you could tell the manager to tell the farmers not to throw away the funny shaped fruits and vegies, so we don’t waste any.

Extraordinary news here in beautiful France. The Intermache super market imperfect fruit and veg for cheaper, for the cause of wasting fruit And veg that doesn’t look as good as the ones you find in super market. It is happening here in 2014, no one knows will it spread or will it not? They are doing this because farmers around the world are wasting bad looking food and chucking the odd looking food out. But now here in France
